The housing, ear pads and head pad have also been re-designed to derive the maximum performance of the RP driver. Product Features: Refined Fostex proprietary Regular Phase (RP) diaphragm driver using copper foil etched polyimide film and powerful neodymium magnet; The maximum input level of 3000mW to comply with various professional uses
The T50RPmk3 uses a semi-open design that combines some advantages from open and closed designs. This has allowed Fostex to create a headphone with a very flat and accurate response, most suited to critical and analytical listening, where the full isolation of a closed design is not necessary.
The pads attach to the headphone unit via a plastic ring which has 4 teeth that fit into a slot in the headphone frame. To remove: select a point between two of the teeth, slipping your thumb under the plastic ring, and pinching the top of the pad firmly with your index finger. Below the FR of a ' modified ' Fostex T50RP with Shure SRH 940 pads fitted versus the same modified T50RP playing from a Kameleon amplifier. As can be seen the Kameleon amplifier (with T50RP module) extends the lows, lowers the midrange just slightly, fills in the 3kHz dip just enough and extends the top end.
